My son saw one of these flying last weekend via full remote video and really like it. Is there one available which can be fully controlled and live video displayed on a Ipad or Andriod tablet? Ideally using the built in tilt sensors and touch screen controls.
Good Question... The stock Parrot AR Drone works exactly that way and is quite an advanced craft! But, if you want to learn for a few less $$$, try the new Walkera QR100. Two things to watch for: 1. If you decide to go Android, be warned that a lot of the cheap tablets you see at drugstores and such don't have a "multi-touch" screen. They only detect one touch at a time. Not good if you're trying to work two joysticks at once. 2. The Parrots have fairly limited range. A friend lost his when he decided to see how high he could fly it. He got right to the limit of its WiFi range, and the wind caught the Parrot and blew it so there was a metal building between it and him. By the time he scrambled to where he could (barely) see it, it had taken off on its own, and was probably at least a mile away when it finally ran out of battery and landed itself. The range problem is probably worse in the city, where you have lots of home and office networks generating interference. Ran
Ran mentions one of the BIG problems of quads. When you buy one you'll think "Fine, 150 feet is plenty of range", but then after about two weeks (if that!), you'll be tempted to see the limits of your range! Quad makers are in the perfect business. People destroy or lose them and then have to go back and buy another!
