Hi, I am new to this drone thing, but i got a broken drone for Christmas and the store didn't have anymore, so I decided to jump right in and build an advanced drone with hobby grade parts. Yeah I know this might not work out for me being only a beginner. I did the same thing for my self balancing butler. What i came here for is I have a few questions about my shopping list and if the electronics im buying are strong enough to lift an action cam. I want to either improve on or keep the same price point. If the parts i post wont work let me know. Thanks.

    Stick with the:
KK2.15 Multi-rotor LCD Flight Control Board with Version 1.9S1. That already has the latest firmware installed.

You sure you want Mode1, throttle on Right? Either way get a better radio with an LCD.

Also try to find some motors with screw on prop adaptors. Something like these:

The ones you chose are a friction fit and a pain, plus the shaft tends to get bent.

Still a poor choice. You need to have a one with an LCD and at least one 3 position switch.

Much better. This is a smaller form factor.

    This one has more channels.

As far as motors you need to decide what prop you want to use. The 1000kv (less RPM) you linked will probably use 9-10" (for larger quads) , the 2300kv (more RPM) 5-6" (for smaller quads.)

These look decent for a larger quad.

okay I've updated my list ill be getting the motors you recommended http://www.ebay.com/itm/Emax-DJI-F4...311?hash=item5b1cefc047:g:eek:hYAAOSwt6ZWU1ae and ditching the esc's and motors on the list. that brings me up to $295 and some change. The other thing i need help with is finding a battery. I need one but the one i listed is on back order and who knows how long that will take to get here. I could shop at my local battery store but i'd need to know what I'm trying to buy. the only reason i have that battery is because It was listed under the control board as a good item. Also the other control board i found for $18 and some change is that one good?

Im trying to keep my budget below 300 but sense i still need a battery charger that probably wont happen. I was also thinking about ordering the battery online then getting the charger locally. Thank you for all your help on this. I just need to be certain because ive gotten into this grove where i spend loads of money to build something and it either has too many problems and doesn't work, or it breaks fast. Either way its a waste of money and i cant afford to lose this much money I dont get paid enough to have $300.00 any other time than a gift giving holiday.

Actually that's not a good idea. It takes a while to learn the basics and develop the proper muscle memory. You will crash a lot. You need to get at least one spare motor and ESC. I basically crashed every single time when I first started with my little lightweight mini. And if you try to be careful and baby your quad it will take even longer to hone your skills. Also a quad like you want to build will need a lot of space and with the extra weight and power things can go wrong for the inexperienced pilot quickly. Is wide open space readily available by you? It's nice to just step outside your door and get in a few packs worth of flights. No packing a flight back with tools, parts etc.

I built a large ~550mm or so tricopter but I don't fly it nearly as much as I'd like to because it's a bit of a drive to get to an area I feel flying in.

I just bought one of these, a step outside the door model, I have a vacant lot across from my house (I live in a city.) Along with spare props, motors and batteries.

I'm looking forward to beating it to death and not worrying about it. :)

In lieu of the beast you want to build, you might also consider something like this as a start. A very nice package with a very slick 9ch radio you can use for future builds.

That's very appetizing but once i buy something i generally get out of it very quickly. I was going to spend $400.00 on new seats for my car, (Acura nsx) but now am not interested since i got a drone for Christmas. I was building the first 8ft self balancing robot butler for 3 months before that, but it fell over and i didn't want to invest anymore money, so i made it into a go kart that's just sitting behind my house because i lost interest. I made a dirt bike and the same thing it just goes on. I don't want to spend allot of money in something then get tired of it. which is why i opted for the 3d printed version not only can i fix it if it breaks, but I can also modify the parts and improve them over time. Its something to look at either way. If you can find an RTF that i can buy and use the parts to make the inspire but use as a fallback or crash test dummy that could be great but it needs to be the same or preferably cheaper than my current setup that proceeds as follows:
