Hi everyone! I am new to this forum and new to the hobby world. My name is George and I work in IT and do some freelance web development. I am looking to build my first quadcopter, and using this quadcopter I want to practice building a controller for it using python. I also would like the experience of building and using a quadcopter. I love to build things but something like this is new to me. I'd like to pool the community and get some information. Specifically links to guides that you may have used, suggestions for parts, tips and/or tricks , and anything and everything that you would like to offer. I'd love to hear from you all and hope to get this project off the ground soon. Thanks for your input!
I don't know what Python is.....but....... http://copter.ardupilot.com/wiki/table-of-contents/ http://ardupilot.com/forum/ http://www.diydrones.com/forum/topic/list That should get you started. Frames and motors are a personal choice. I have my frames custom made by a laser shop and use http://dragonplate.com/default.asp as my material source. Motors I use either http://www.scorpionsystem.com/ or http://www.hacker-motor-shop.com/?shop=hacker_e The Hackers are my first choice as they are reliable and very powerful. Hope that helps a little. I hope to have a civilian version of my UAS's available soon. Its a Tri Rotor
Awesome! I'll take a look into it those sites! Python is a programming language that you can use to program and control arduino boards. I do know that some use arduino boards to mount cameras or control the quadcopter.
Ardupilot is arduino based......and one of the best flight controllers I have found. So that should make it even easier for you
