    Good Morning,

Im building my first quad and I am to the point where I have to buy and connect the transmitter and receiver, however I have no Idea as to which one to purchase. I also have no clue about the process oof how to connect everything up once I get it. I dont need a fancy R/C I heard good things about this one (http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__9042__Hobby_King_2_4Ghz_6Ch_Tx_Rx_V2_Mode_2_.html) and its right in my budget. Please can some one give me a tutorial on how I connect my quad to the R/C?? Thank you so much!

I'd avoid that very limited, barebones transmitter. I've never heard anything good about it.

    - You want an LCD display to do your programming, not hooking up to a PC.
    - At least one 3 way switch to easily handle your flight modes,
    - Failsafes (so it doesn't just fly away)
    - Adjustable dual Rates, expos and throttle curves

I'm no elitist, but you can get so much more transmitter in the $50 to $90 range that will make adjusting and flying so much easier.

Would you mind suggesting a specific model and brand? And can you also give me a slight tutorial on how to connect the transmitter and receiver to the quad, I'm a newbie lol. Thanks!

The 9X is considered one of the better bargain Transmitters.

Since this comes with a receiver (to be installed in the quadcopter), it's easy to bind those two together.
Your particular quadcopter instructions or Flight Controller should show you which ports to hook up to which ports (receiver to F/C).
As an example, here is a screen shot of a dualsky hookup I did with the 9X.
So think of it that way - the radio signals come from your 9X and go to the receiver in the quad - and then go to the channels (throttle, rudder, etc.) in your flight controller.

    Hey Thanks guys great insight!!!!

I've uploaded a pic of my Quad and a close up of my F/C, the reason being is that my F/C is a cheapo from IC Station(http://www.icstation.com/icstation-flight-controller-mpu6050-hmc5883l-p-3581.html). I understand I might not get the best kind of flying with this cheaper model, but this is my first build and I wasn't sure how if i was going to like this as a hobby, and also Im a college student and I don't have expendable income to spend on a Quad lol. Back to the point, when i received my F/C in the mail It came with no instructions as to which ports are which. I need help, can any of you discern where to plug in my receiver and ESC too?

    Start with something like this:

Dig around for multiwii board schematics and pinouts and you should figure it out quickly.
That diagram - if applicable to yours - shows both the 4 ESC connections and the Receiver and Power connections (where those connection names will match with those on your receiver - Throttle, Elevator, etc.)
