Anyone come across one of these yet? All of the reviews look cracking and it looks like a serious dji contender?

I have been researching these copters and finding all the information I can. They do look like a good contender to DJI.DJI has a 1 year warranty and Q500 has 6 months.
A lot of my search is how the "support" is. I now have a DJI Phantom2 Vision Plus. Every time they have a firmware upgrade they have so many issues, and lack of "GOOD" support.
DJI now has a new update (v3.12) I will wait a couple of months before I do the upgrade to the firmware. I watched a video on the Yuneec Q500 that was pretty interesting.

Great - maybe you'll do a quickie review here once you get familiar with it!

Well Spector keep us posted. I would like to know how their support is.Where did you purchase your Yuneec Q500 from?

Went straight to store.Yuneec.com they had/have a special offer available two batteries and extra props, I talked to their customer service twice (very helpful) I had questions about warranty (six months) distribution, the H920 (months away, no set price yet), delivery time.

Nothing against DJI, but all the reviews and even the videos of the Q500 Typhoon give it the edge (IMO).

Every time a newer model of anything comes out, it always get snapped up and good reviews....it takes a while for enough users to fly them and for the odds to catch up to them....there were frenzies over the Tali, various Walkera Models, all the FreeX units, etc. and none of them ended up measuring up to their early hype.

No doubt the Q500 is the first quad even in the running in terms of competing, though. Lots of folks think the video is worse than the Phantom, though. I think we each have different eyes and so what looks good is often in the eye of the beholder. I suspect using filters, post processing, lens hoods, etc. can also help one rise above the over.

Being a newer and smaller company in the field, Yuneec is likely to try hard to keep the first flyers happy...which counts for something.

My biggest beef is the size of the thing - that's an advantage to some, but for hauling around, shipping and stealth the Phantom may have the edge.

In the end I think these are like guitars.....that is, the artist using them is more important than anything else. If you have an eye for taking pictures and videos and assembling them so they are pleasing, that's going to make people appreciate your work.

My wife likes to say (about my playing) that even Eric's wife gets sick of his riffs......
That said, here's my tribute to James...

Looks good was on verge of buying one but a phantom popped up at the right price. Just trying to get through the gimbal minefield now there are some real bargains on eBay but want one with the minimal amount of installation so don't have to take quad to bits

Unless you over ride the programming you are limited to 400 feet (FAA regs).
I love the way it flies, here is another video from a little higher.

Interesting comments. The Yuneeq has a lot going for it. Personally, I prefer a smaller aircraft where I know what the battery life is just by looking at it. The Yuneeq just seems heavier to me.

Without mapping and the additional telemetry....it's a tough sell.
Many of the owners are happy with them...but I do like to have the most tech for the money and at this point enjoy all those features in the Go app and the 3rd party apps.
