hi Newbie here I have just brought a DJI Phantom Fc40 looking on internet spotted about lipo battery being a possible fire hazard.worried why use them ?why not one of the many other batterys.
LiPo is lighter and has better power density than other technologies. Yes you have to be careful with them, charge them in a flame proof container or on a flame proof surface, Never charge them unattended. never discharge them below 3 volts per cell, never higher than 4.2 volts per cell. Even more information can be found here -----> http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=209187 Just follow those guidelines and you will be fine.................... BTW, one of those reasons you should never fly in a city or area where property / people damage can happen......that LiPo battery.
Just about every camera, cell phone, tablet and laptop computer use the same type of batteries. As Ice says, it's a matter of basic safety. I charge and store them in the inexpensive LiPo sacks.
