Dear All, I have order the Sunnysky motors that I want to setup in 4S on my quad. I have been reading that people have been really happy with the performance. As I only have 16 amp ESC, I have ordered Turnigy Multistar 30 Amp Multi-rotor Brushless ESC to go with it. Do you think that this will do the job? Thanks in advance.
I have ordered: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4x-Sunnysky-X2212-980KV-180W-Brushless-Motor-for-Multirotor-Quadcopter-Hexa-Octa-/231289128781? Saw the link: for testing on 4S They all state that they are for 2-3S setups. However, I can find a lot of people putting them in 4S with excellent results.
Product Description: Sunnysky Brand New and High Quality Specially design for multi copter Fit 2-3S lipo input Work with APC 1047 or 1145 can prove 900grams Torque Model:X2212-980KV KV (rpm): 980 Non-load current: 10V/0.3A Lipo Battery (cell): 2S-3S Li-poly Weight: 56g Length: 30mm Diameter: 27.5mm Shaft Diameter(mm): 3 With a 3S Lpo and a 11 X 4.5 Prop you would draw 17.2 amps, so a 30 amp ESC is more than enough......25 amp would be minimum rating I would use. I would not run them with a 4S Lipo though, while other people may have the motor is not designed for it and could over heat. On a Quad you can have a total of 900 grams thrust by 4 (3,600 total lift) this means a good weight of the quad would be half that (1800 grams) while running 3S lipos.......unless your quad weighs 2200 grams there is no need to even try 4S lipo power with those motors (and I do not think those motors will handle that either).
