Please help. Last week received my Phantom Vision 2 + v3.0. Spent a week reading and watching to get informed. I am trying to update the firmware and calibrate the controller. Hers where I'm at:
I have downloaded v3.8 assistant, read the owners manual, watched the video.
USB cord from Phantom to Computer - Phantom On - Assistant opened - Window of assistant comes up as shown in information - But nothing happens. If I click on info it tells me I have the 3.8 installed. If I click on the Phantom box at the top, I get: Error, Please connect to the controller.
I get this message with either the Phantom or RC controller hooked up. Any advise, please!

Also, I have tried turning on the controller first (no cord to computer), Phantom on (props off) with USB cord to computer. Open v3.8 assistant (there is a DJI small window that has me click on "skip" to get the actual assistant window to open.) I can do nothing with the assistant, if I click on Phantom box at the top it says: Error, Please connect to controller. Haven't even had my first flight yet.
    Thanks for any help. Norm

Why are you trying to upgrade?
I bought the same model about two months ago and only hooked it to the computer for a second to activate IOC mode.

It comes ready to fly! No need to calibrate. Do the compass calibration and bring it out to a field and fly it.

If you have a windows computer you may need to download some drivers. Did you download the DJI WIN drivers?

My feeling is that this is a USB driver problem of sorts. If your computer allows, check your USB status and see what it thinks it is connected to.

Thanks for the follow up. Different opinions suggested checking for updates and doing a basic calibration.
I decided to give it a try if for no other reason to become more familiar with my Phantom.
After several attempts someone mentioned downloading the driver. I did this and every thing worked great.
It's funny with all reading and video watching I don't recall the driver download. I am now ready to fly,
Thanks to all who responded. It's nice that those who know help those who don't.
