Press Release on new filters for GP!

Newport Beach, C.A. – Today, Polar Pro Filters, a manufacturer of professional-grade action camera accessories for the action sports and photographic communities, announced a new filter bundle which has been specially designed for the unique demands of shooting video with drone and quadcopter-mounted GoPro® cameras. Compatible with GoPro Hero3/3+/4 (when outside the housing), the PolarPro FPV Quadcopter Filter 3-Pack includes a polarizing filter along with two-stop and three-stop neutral density filters. Each scratch resistant glass filter helps optimize image quality and their low-profile and lightweight redesign (only 6.7 grams each) make them perfect for most drone gimbals. Listing for $49.99, the filter pack can be purchased through a variety of retail outlets or direct through the PolarPro website at

For photographers and videographers looking to get the most out of their DJI Phantom© quadcopter or other GoPro-equipped drone flights, the PolarPro FPV Quadcopter Filter 3-Pack includes the essential filters to optimize footage from a gimbal-mounted action cam. Because GoPro cameras do not offer aperture control, proper exposure for video footage must be managed with shutter speed only. The snap-on PolarPro filters allow shooters to control shutter speed to impart motion blur or eliminate the nagging Jell-O® effect often caused by the combination of the GoPro’s rolling shutter and the vibration of high frequency rotor blades. Included in the bundle are:

    PolarPro Polarizer Filter (Lightest Shade)
When filming from a quadcopter, the polarizer reduces the amount of glare bouncing off the ground and improves color saturation for the crispest footage possible. The polarizer can also be used to slow down the camera’s shutter speed by 1.6 stops, making it essential for nighttime video shoots or other instances where a slower shutter speed is necessitated.

PolarPro Neutral Density 2-Stop (Mid Shade)
The most common filter for filming outdoors or from the sky, a two-stop neutral density (ND) filter reduces the camera’s shutter speed and smoothes out quadcopter video and reduces the Jell-O -effect. The 2-Stop ND filter is also ideal for reducing lens flare while shooting into the sun, or toning down highlights while filming outdoors. Hero4 users can also use this filter to slow down the shutter speed while shooting in Night Mode or for more balanced exposures.

PolarPro Neutral Density 3-Stop (Darkest Shade)
The 3-Stop ND filter is designed for filming in very bright conditions and can help reduce even the most severe Jell-O effect (rolling shutter), smoothing out high vibration quadcopter footage. Forcing the GoPro camera recue shutter speed by three stops, this filter is also able to create blur motion regardless of the light conditions.

“When it comes to optimizing your drone video, the biggest issue facing shooters is what has come to be called the Jell-O effect. Caused by the combination of the GoPro’s rolling shutter and the high frequency vibrations of quadcopter rotors, the effect can easily be nullified with our filters,” said Jeff Overall, CEO of Polar Pro Filters. “To ensure quadcopter photographers and videographers are able to optimize footage while maintaining ideal flight characteristics, we’ve redesigned our filters to be lightweight and low-profile for use on gimbal-mounted drone cameras.”
